More than just a social issue.

Late Tuesday night, slumped on my couch, flipping channels, till I reached Nat Geo, where there was a documentary on MS – 13, one of the largest and most notorious structured organized crime gangs that spreads from central america to the west coast, with members estimated to be around 100,00. These are not your usual gangs, compared to the Italian Mobs and mafias back in the days, these guys are far worse. I’m not trying to promote them nor glorify. But MS – 13 can define how humanities evil has evolved. No longer do the rules of nature apply to these thugs, what more the country’s law. You may do your own research to find out more about MS – 13. But after watching that documentary it got me thinking. Mainly about our own country.

Few years back, we began to notice and read in the papers, about “rempits“.  First known to be a danger to other drivers on the road, performing stunts and illegal races. Fast forward today, we find ourselves, staring at a virus, social virus, that no one attempted to fully crack down, began to manifest its demons. No longer are they just snatching bags, but lives are dragged down too. Old people, pregnant woman, young, the victim varies, and no one is excepted, no one is safe. These hooligans have become bolder in their actions, knowing that the chances of being caught are slim. They have grown bored of silly little stunts are merely scaring citizens, no longer do they find adrenalin in petty crimes. They seek more.

How long more are we going to wait on the sidelines, and watch evil evolve right before our very eyes. How long more are our politicians and public leaders going to continue indulging in protecting their ego and waging wars on opposition. I can help wondering what the future beholds, when rempits mature and propragate, will we see a structured organized gang in our midst? It scares the crap out of me to think about it, what if masterminds can control these guys, and use them for the greater evil. For crimes and murders, and with our very curroptive culture, what if every cornerstone of society is infiltrated.

This is a perverse and corrupted generation, and it will only get worse, unless we as a country with the help of our elected leaders and chosen authorities come up with a system that will prevent such terrorist of country to evolve and pose a national threat. The days are numbered, the signs are obvious, something has to be done, not by someone, but a joint effort by every party. This goes far beyond just daily crimes, its worse, it’s no longer a social issue, its more, way more than just another social issue. It’s a threat that needs to be halted.

you couldn’t have said it better. =) we, the rakyat, must do our part to speak up. that’s what the opinion/letters section is about. we cannot just sit back and say that our government is corrupted and the efforts we make will be in vain.

what we need, not just for this social ill, but for everything else we see lacking, is a little bit of faith. a little bit more that keeps us going on. that keeps us fighting for what is right. we must never stop speaking up, never stop making our voices heard. if writing letter after letter to the media is what it takes, if writing to our reps and politicians is what we must do, if exercising our right to vote is what we must do – we must keep doing it.

people are responsible for a lot of shit in the world. and then there are people who stand by and watch and do nothing. but ultimately it is still people who can make the wrongs right. so which group of people are we?

It is good that people are waking up and realizing that we need change. We don’t just need to demand it, we need to MAKE it happen. We need change so desperately on such a ridiculous scale that only praying coupled with concrete efforts will help.

And hey there. ;) Found you thru andrea.
