My thoughts were provoked on this matter during the DDOS attacks on social media networks earlier this week. There are millions of social media users this very day. I, am one of them, and so are many of you, now I can’t help but wonder, how this has changed the way humans communicate. Will the day come when we forget how to express communication face to face?
It’s crazy if you think about it, about how much is going on the internet, I myself constantly find that I am connected 24/7. One wouldn’t even have the need to step outside to survive today! There is so much out there, everything online, from education, to communication, to gaming, people even find love online for goodness sake. One IP address to another, one user name to another. Has technology altered the way we live? more specifically communicate, forever?
Of course you can argue the benefits that technology and the internet has brought us, all the having the world at the tips of your fingers, but when are we going to acknowledge the fact, that for the upcoming generation, how beneficial is this evolution?
I think it cripples human communication. Think about it, a person who doesn’t even have the guts to walk up to someone and ask for their number could instead easily just click a button and be connected to the person all from behind that computer, or how easy it is for someone to sit behind that keyboard and throw threats, seditious words, all while hiding behind the privilege of anonymity.
Has communication been redefined? For the better or worse?
